Artist

Tatzu Nishi was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1960. He has been based mainly in Europe since 1997. He is internationally renowned for his large-scale public projects. His works transform familiar public items, such as a city monument or streetlight, into an object placed in a private space, like a living room or a hotel room. By transforming public structures into private spaces, he is known for presenting the urban-based bold and adventurous project that involves public. He is currently based in Berlin and Tokyo. He has presented his work in the hotel project The Merlion Hotel (2011) in Singapore (2011, Singapore Biennale, Singapore), and an installation inside of The Hermitage Museum in Russia: So I only want to love yours (2014) at “Manifesta 10” (2014, The State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia), “ and more.
