  • London: Nightlife in a city which never sleeps
During the day the streets of London are filled with tourists and people admiring the many buildings, attractions and shops; but it is during the night that the streets of London really come to life.
As a matter of fact, nightlife and London pretty much go hand in hand with one another and, with so many clubs, bars, pubs and music venues to choose from, one could easily spend months and months in London and still not experience London's nightlife in its entirety.

While some areas of London offer some of the best clubs and bars in the city, in recent years other boroughs have become home to countless unique and niche bars that you surely won't find anywhere else in the world.
If you're hoping to immerse yourself in London's nightlife scene, here are some tips to keep in mind the next time you plan on partying in London.

Every borough of London offers a little something extra when it comes to London's thriving nightlife scene. Whether it's a circus-themed bar in Camden, the famous Ministry of Sound on the South Bank or a classy cocktail bar in Soho, there's no telling what kind of experience you'll have on a night out in London.
However, some areas are more popular than others when it comes to choosing a place to party in London: while tourists and celebrities tend to stick to the world-famous bars and clubs of Soho, locals usually flock to the East End of London for a more alternative bar and nightclub scene.
While some touristy areas can be more expensive, it's worth the splurge if you're only able to get away for one night in London.
There are many popular bars in the streets surrounding Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden, and in Soho there is always a fun night out guaranteed thanks to the variety of clubs in the area.
If you happen to be in London on a Friday night, then Islington is definitely the place to be since it has everything from pubs with a full kitchen, late night wine bars and classy cocktails bar.
In recent years, it has become a party center also for people partying every night of the week.
Just like New York City, London is a city that never sleeps. So you can expect a night out in London to last well into the wee hours of the morning.
Party-goers usually start scurrying through the streets as early as 6pm on weekends, although pubs tend to be busiest between 6pm and 9pm any day of the week.

Pub fare

In general, bars, clubs and pubs in London tend to stay open much later on weekends (normally until around 3am), but during the week they usually close around 1am.
You can also count on most bars opening as early as 4pm during the week because people get drinks after work with coworkers but don't expect a place to stay open late into the night.
Even now that it’s winter time bars are full and people spend their nights on the patios of pubs having beers with friends while chatting the night away.
This is London.
Londoners are never afraid of the cold nights and you will see them partying outside as if it were July.
When going out at night, English women have a habit of wearing short, light summer dresses, often without a coat even on a freezing December night. Sandals and stiletto heels are a must-have accessory, obviously without stockings. How do they do it? Often thanks to the warming power of alcohol which at times sees them…going home barefoot!

With night buses and the night tube, getting around London late at night has never been easier.

I moved to London over 2 years ago but only last year I started writing for a local newsletter for Expats in London telling about my experience in this big city and giving advice to newcomers. London is a very dynamic city and has a lot for everyone but it’s important to have a local point of view to navigate it without getting lost. Let me be your guide to hidden London!
