The International Students Creative Award 2014 was held on Friday, November 21 at the Knowledge Theater.
In addition to announcing and screening the winning entries, there was a discussion on “the new relationship between creativity and technology” chaired by Kei Wakabayashi, editor of the Japanese edition of the innovative news website Wired. Special guests who participated included Gerfried Stocker, Artistic Director of the world famous Ars Electronica, Daito Manabe, an up-and-coming young media artist, and the enigmatic contemporary artist Naohiro Ukawa.
The event also featured numerous other highlights, including a cutting-edge rap performance by the Daito Manabe led group Your Cosmos that used programming technology with no MC, and a “scouting for stars” talent contest judged by representatives from an Osaka television station, a major advertising agency, and a famous production company. The audience also participated in judging the talent, and enthusiastically expressed their encouragement for these potential future stars.
The International Students Creative Award 2014 was a lively and spirited event, and it was acclaimed a resounding success.

Media artist and telecommunications engineer. He has headed the crew of artists and technicians and developed the Ars Electoronica Center's pioneering new exhibition strategies as an artistic director (of Ars Electronica) since 1995.
He(born in 1968 in Kagawa prefecture) has cleared away the existing barrier between fine arts and popular culture and now famous for his free expression of the arts in Japan. His own Channel "DOMMUNE" which has Live Streaming Studio function is widely known in Japan and also in overseas.
He (born 1976) is a director of Rhizomatiks. Regardless of the field or genre, he is participating in various projects at domestic and overseas with full use of programming. Manabe was also awarded numerous awards in domestic and overseas including Cannes Lions, the Ars Electronica.
He(born in 1971) has been a "WIRED" Japanese edition editor-in-chief since 2011. He started his own business in 2000 after working in "Monthly Sun" editorial deartment at Heibonsha.He has woked on editing and writing in cultural magazines and also on planning and editing in several books and exhibition catalogues.
