The ISCA (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CREATIVE AWARD) 2025 Award Presentation Ceremony, Screening and Exhibition of the winning works, now in its 13th year, moved to the venue to the cultural facility “VS.” (V-S), which opened last year at Umeda Grand Green Osaka.
The event period was also extended from the usual two days to three days.
This event was realized through a new collaborative partnership between the organizer, Knowledge Capital, and special cooperation from the VS. Joint Partnership.
The total number of submissions across all categories reached 1,215 entries (breakdown: 310 entries from 67 domestic schools, 905 entries from 88 countries overseas). Since the pandemic, the number of submissions has continued to break records every year.
Furthermore, beyond the award presentation itself, we differentiate ourselves by providing opportunities for interaction between award winners and stakeholders, and by offering diverse content. This allows us to continuously evolve each year as a high-value-added award.
This year's theme is “Creative is the Best!”
In addition to screenings and exhibitions of the winning works, the event featured a special talk and workshop by Miyawaki-senmu, the leading figure manufacturer from KAIYODO in Japan.
We also invited the head of Sónar+D, an urban music festival spreading from Barcelona to the world, creating three days packed with diverse content designed to stimulate creativity.
DAY 1 / December 5th (Fri)
The main event on Day 1 was the award presentation ceremony and screening of the award-winning films.
We invited students from art-focused vocational schools in Osaka city to participate as part of an extracurricular program, and the venue was packed with students majoring in film and design. The screening offered immersive experience, utilizing VS's prized large-screen visuals and cutting-edge sound system.
Additionally, the winners of the Digital Content category were able to exhibit and present their work in the same space where renowned architect Tadao Ando and Daito Manabe, a representative artist of “Sónar,” had actually held exhibitions. This provided the winners with an exceptionally valuable experience.
Furthermore, this year we again held an exchange program that provides a point of contact between companies, government agencies, and students—a program made possible only through the collaboration between Knowledge Capital and ISCA (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CREATIVE AWARD).
Andrea Faroppa, head of “Sónar+D,” and Christian Suárez, artist booking manager for “Sónar,” announced the “Sónar” awards. Winners received a delightful surprise: VIP passes to next year’s “Sónar” event.
DAY 2 / December 6th (Sat)
As part of a special talk event, KAIYODO's Miyawaki-senmu made an appearance.
He shares passionate messages about creativity alongside the evolution of KAIYODO—from a small plastic model shop in Osaka to being exhibited in museums worldwide, and the venue was filled with excitement as participants ranging from students to working professionals of all ages gathered.
Additionally, a special workshop was held where Miyawaki-senmu taught participants how to paint Myaku Myaku figures. Engaging with attendees, he directly instructed them in professional painting techniques and tips.
This workshop was our most popular offering, selling out on the very first day. It was heartwarming to see so many families participating and enjoying themselves through creativity—a truly rewarding experience for us as well.
Furthermore, a special stage was set up, and for the first time in ISCA (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CREATIVE AWARD) history, an “ISCA Live Talk” featuring award winners and judges was held.
Each judge shared their evaluation criteria, and behind-the-scenes stories about award-winning works offered many valuable insights exclusive to this event. Above all, it created an opportunity where award winners inspired each other—truly a fitting showcase of “Creativity is the best!
At the conclusion of the concurrently held Nippachi Festival, Daito Manabe appeared as part of the “VS. / Nippachi Festival / ISCA Presents” program, delivering a spectacular audiovisual performance.
Following the award winners' screenings and exhibitions, Day 2 delivered a packed lineup of content. After a long night, the event continues into Day 3.
DAY 3 / December 7th (Sun)
The final day showcased a “Creative Festival,” featuring workshops using KAIYODO figures, the popular Knowledge Capital The Lab. workshop “Patto Iroha,” and an exhibition of “Play with Digital Experience for Everyone” by VisLab OSAKA / Osaka Electro-Communication University, a participant in The Lab.
At the workshop where participants could freely paint KAIYODO figures, members of ENIT—a group originating from the Knowledge Innovation Award and active at Knowledge Capital—joined as instructors.
Programs that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from adults to children, continued to be held.
And the talk program “Hello, Sónar! Music, Technology, and Innovation—From Barcelona to the World,” presented by the global urban music festival “Sónar,” was held.
Through learning about Sónar's origins and initiatives, it was possible to experience the history of this festival, which has continued for nearly 30 years, and discover the appeal of “Sónar,” which continues to generate musical and interdisciplinary innovation.
The three days overflowing with “Creativity is the Best!", the ISCA (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CREATIVE AWARD) 2025, concluded successfully.
We sincerely thank everyone who visited our event this year.
We look forward to seeing you again next year!
