  • MAYBE MOVING…..
As Sydney is getting more and more expensive and, in the past year, it has been in the centre of the attention for some negative reasons, I’m thinking of moving to another city here in Australia and I am undecided between Brisbane, the capital of Queensland and Perth, the capital of Western Australia.
I don’t know when and if I’ll be able to move to either one but I need a change and I need to dream at least right now.

I love Brisbane as I believe it is the perfect city for those who prefer relaxed urban centres without giving up on fun; in fact, in Brisbane there is no shortage of attractions, there are many and for all tastes and ages.
Smaller than Sydney and Melbourne, it is however growing rapidly, so much so that it ranks third in Australia by population, thanks to its 2 and half million inhabitants.
Despite its economic boom, however, Brisbane's lifestyle is very relaxed compared to typical metropolitan cities and the place is therefore the right mix of relaxed and safe lifestyle for families and adults, while also remaining suitable for young people who want a lively city in which to have a good time.
I had decided that I wanted to move abroad as a child and although I didn't know that Australia would become my final destination since childhood I have always wanted to travel, curious to experience different cultures and see with my own eyes that world that seemed so far away.
Brisbane is now a choice that came after months of researching what would be the best city to find a new job in this enormously vast country. I chose it because, as I was saying it, despite being a big city, it is perfectly liveable, I like to call it ‘on a human scale’.
Most Europeans and foreigners who come here to the land of the koalas move to Sydney and this is one of the reasons why I would like to move away from it because it’s becoming too international and overcrowded and it’s losing its Australianity.
Choosing Brisbane would also mean choosing the best climate in Australia because Queensland is tropical and every time I visited I loved the weather there.

As I previously mentioned, I also like Perth very much…I fell in love with it when I visited it last year and I would enjoy living there because it is the sunniest city in the world.
People think of Perth as a very remote and boring city but it is a city rich in culture, museums and attractions to visit; if you are an art lover in Perth you will never be bored. Not only does the city have a very characteristic centre, but also numerous museums and monuments that you can visit during your free time.
It welcomes many international students because the educational system is excellent and I heard it offers excellent job opportunities.
I have also heard that salaries in Perth are among the highest in the world and employment opportunities are growing month by month in all sectors. This is because Perth has been driving the economy of the entire Australian continent for several years now thanks to immense gas deposits and copper and zinc mines, but also thanks to gold and diamonds, mined and exported to China.
In addition to industries, Perth has also become a very important business center, where many new financial services, health and insurance companies have grown, true leaders in their sector.
The demand for manpower is among the highest in the world, all in the midst of fantastic nature, in the heart of Australian colors and life style, surrounded by boundless landscapes and close to fantastic beaches.

I have to really start sending my resume around and try to get hired somewhere else because Sydney is getting more and more expensive day after day and…sigh!...losing a bit of its charm!!

Hello everyone! I’m originally from Italy and I moved to Sydney, Australia, in 2012 after getting a job as a civil engineer. I love walking my dog along the beach, surfing and taking photos. I used to have a travel blog because I’m passionate about traveling and I love writing about it too. Sydney is my home base now and I wish to share how amazing it is to live here. I love to spend time outdoors and I’m always well informed about local events because my girlfriend works in event management.
