  • A Journey to the EBRD Annual Business Forum in Yerevan
Embarking on a business trip often combines professional development with the excitement of travel. This year, I had the privilege of attending the Annual Business Forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Yerevan, Armenia. My journey began in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and took me through Moscow, Russia, before reaching my final destination. This trip not only provided valuable insights and networking opportunities but also allowed me to explore new cultures and bring back unique souvenirs.
The adventure started in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan’s vibrant capital, known for its leafy boulevards and Soviet-era architecture. The excitement of attending an international forum was coupled with the anticipation of traveling through two historically rich cities.
Flying from Bishkek to Yerevan required a layover in Moscow. Arriving in Russia's capital, even for a brief period, was a thrilling experience. Moscow’s grand architecture, bustling streets, and historical landmarks create an atmosphere of both grandeur and dynamism. Despite the limited time, I managed to explore some key sights.
The flight from Moscow to Yerevan offered stunning aerial views of Armenia's diverse landscapes. Upon landing, I was immediately struck by Yerevan’s blend of ancient history and modern vibrancy. As one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, Yerevan offers a unique cultural tapestry and warm hospitality.
The EBRD Annual Business Forum is a significant event that attracts leaders, policymakers, and business professionals from around the globe. Held at the Yerevan Business Center, the forum’s agenda focused on sustainable development, innovation, and regional cooperation.
Outside of the forum, Yerevan itself was a treasure trove of experiences. The city’s vibrant arts scene, with its museums and galleries, provided a perfect way to unwind after a day of intense discussions. Yerevan’s culinary delights were another highlight. Traditional dishes like khorovats (barbecue) and lavash (flatbread) were both delicious and memorable. The local markets offered an array of fresh produce and unique Armenian products.
The journey from Bishkek to Yerevan via Moscow for the EBRD Annual Business Forum was both professionally and personally enriching. The forum provided deep insights into sustainable and digital business practices, while the cultural exploration of Yerevan added an unforgettable dimension to the trip.
